SO, WHAT EXACTLY IS A FLOWER SUBSCRIPTION PROGRAM?
In essence, a subscription program, is a CSA—Community Supported Agriculture. Instead of receiving a variety of produce or vegetables, you’re subscribing to a share of seasonal, locally grown flowers. It’s a way to enjoy fresh, beautiful blooms while supporting your local farmer and their families by purchasing a seasonal subscription. In this case, you’re subscribing to a Flower CSA, which means you’ll receive a share of seasonal blooms. By investing in your local farmer, you help cover essential overhead costs, from bulbs and seeds to irrigation supplies, soil preparation, and everything needed to grow stunning flowers. In return for your upfront investment, you’ll enjoy fresh, locally grown, pesticide-free flowers weekly for the duration of your subscription.
WHY JOIN A CSA?
Economics: Supporting a local business means your money stays right here in Dayton, Ohio, circulating like a mini economy supercharger.
Environmental Health: Buying local means fewer fossil fuels used for transportation, no pesticides, and less nasty chemicals in the environment. It's basically a win for the planet, the farmer, and you.
Community Building: Knowing your farmer—and where your flowers come from—is like building a flower-powered bond that strengthens your community. Plus, you get to brag about it at parties.
HOW IT WORKS
We’ll send you a reminder email & text the night before or the morning of your pickup day. To make sure our messages don’t end up in your spam folder, please add gemcityblooms@gmail.com to your email contacts. We also ask for your phone number to communicate any last-minute changes or cancellations to your bouquet pickup in the event of an emergency.
Bouquet pickup will be in Kettering Ohio and the exact address will be shared in your confirmation email. Pickup days will be Thursday OR Sunday. When purchasing your CSA-share please indicate which pickup day will work for you.
WHAT IF I’M UNABLE TO PICK UP MY PURCHASE?
No Cancellations or Changes
It’s your responsibility to pick up your bouquets each week on your chosen day (Thursday or Sunday). Unfortunately, we can’t offer refunds for missed pickups or cancellations (as much as we’d love to). If you can’t make it, we suggest sending a friend to pick up your flowers—or, better yet, surprise someone and gift them your bouquet! Any flowers not picked up by the end of the window will be forfeited and lovingly donated.
I’M GOING ON VACATION; CAN I MAKE UP THE SHARE ANOTHER WEEK?
We wish we could say yes, but sadly, this isn't an option right now. Our planting and harvest season is mapped out well in advance, and with our tiny team, we just can’t hold onto your flowers. Since they’re fresh cut and perishable, they’re not the type to hang around waiting for their moment of glory. We recommend giving your bouquet to a family member or friend (sharing is caring, after all). Just make sure they have the correct pickup info and let us know 48 hours in advance. It’s your responsibility to ensure they don’t show up looking like they’re at the wrong party!
WHAT DO I GET IN MY FLOWER SHARE?
Your weekly share is a snapshot of the current growing season, filled with the freshest local flowers from our micro farm in Kettering, Ohio. Each week, you’ll receive a beautifully hand-tied wrapped bouquet, an arrangement, a bud vase, or some delightful combo of the three. We’ll mix it up depending on the best way to deliver your flowers in all their glorious beauty—because we’re not just delivering flowers, we’re delivering art.
IS THERE A DELIVERY OPTION?
Currently, there is only a pickup option. Coming to pick up at our Kettering location helps to connect you to your farmer and our urban farm in a valuable way.
HOW DO I CARE FOR MY FLOWERS?
Each bouquet comes with a care instructions card attached to the bouquet, as well as a flower food packet. Flowers perform the best when they are kept out of direct sunlight & vase water is changed regularly.
WEATHER:
The art of flower farming is a weather dependent experience, because let’s face it—Mother Nature has a wicked sense of humor. Every year and every season is different than the last. And while we aim to provide your bouquet subscription during its designated time, it is entirely possible we may need to extend your subscription to provide you with the excellent customer experience we strive for. Rest assured; you’ll get all your purchased weeks—just with a little bonus surprise of extending into the following weeks! It’s like getting an unexpected encore performance from your flowers. In the event mother nature throws us a curve ball, we’ll keep you updated with all the details via email/text, so keep an eye on your inbox!
I NEED SOME EXTRA FLOWERS, IS THIS POSSIBLE?
Absolutely! We’re all about flower overload (in the best way possible). Just shoot us an email 48 hours before your CSA pickup day, and we’ll hook you up with some extra blooms. But here’s the catch: we can’t add flowers without that 48-hour notice, because all unaccounted-for stems are snagged by other flower lovers.
